Babushka Adoption

Thank you for your kindness and interest in adopting a needy babushka (grandmother) or dedushka (grandfather) in the Kyrgyz Republic. Sponsorship is a great way to experience the joys of helping a needy elderly person, and make a lasting difference to the lives of those who need our help and attention urgently. When you choose to adopt an elderly person in need you are linked with your own babushka or dedushka. This way you and your beneficiary can, if you so wish, get to know each other, which contribute to creating a lasting bond. You will receive a profile of your babushka or dedushka that includes a short biography and photograph. More than 600 sponsors worldwide and almost 1000 elderly people in the Kyrgyz Republic enjoy this special relationship. It gives so much happiness to the older people. They realize that they are not so alone in this world and that there are people who think and care of them.

Here’s how to adopt a needy babushka or dedushka and make a real difference to their lives.

Step 3: Confirm

Our Sponsor Coordinator will send you a profile of a needy elderly person as per your request, and all other necessary information that you need to become a sponsor.

Once you confirm that you would like to adopt the babushka or dedushka whose profile you have received, you will be given a personal sponsor number which you should please use for any correspondence with us, including the transfer of funds. This will ensure our work is as efficient and effective as possible.

You will have the opportunity to write letters, send gifts and visit her (him) after “adoption”.

Step 4: Transfer money

Using your personal sponsor number as a reference, the next step is to transfer €150 to one of our bank accounts. Babushka Adoption Foundation has 4 bank accounts: in Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany.

Note: Please do not forget to mention your personal sponsor number as a reference when you make bank transfers.

As soon as your transfer is received, we will start providing your chosen beneficiary with the Kyrgyz equivalent of €10 monthly, at two-monthly intervals.

Please consider making your adoption an ongoing commitment and continue to provide long-term support for your beneficiary by setting up a Standing Order or Direct debit with your bank. It is the best way to make our sponsorship programme affordable and efficient. More importantly, it can make a lasting difference to the lives of older people.
