How to Adopt a Babushka
Thank you for your interest in adopting a needy grandmother or grandfather in Kyrgyzstan. Sponsorship is a great way to experience the joys of helping a needy elderly person, and make a lasting difference in the lives of the poorest people and their communities. When you choose to adopt an elderly person in need you are linked with one particular babushka or dedushka. This way you and your beneficiary can get to know each other, which contributes to creating a lasting bond. You will receive a profile of your babushka or dedushka that includes a short biography and photograph. More than 600 sponsors worldwide and almost 1000 elderly people in Kyrgyzstan enjoy this special relationship.
Here’s how to adopt a needy babushka or dedushka and make a difference to their lives:
Step 2: Contact us by email, fax or post with the following information:

Step 3: Confirm
Our sponsor coordinator will send you a profile of a needy elderly person as per your request, and all other necessary information that you need to become a sponsor.
Once you confirm that you would like to adopt the babushka or dedushka whose profile you have received, you will be given a personal sponsor number. Please use this number for any correspondence with us, including the transfer of money. We give this number to our sponsors to make our work more efficient and effective.
Your name will be shared with your beneficiary and you have the opportunity to write letters or send gifts to her or him. It is also possible to visit your beneficiary. Please click here for more information on how to connect with your beneficiary.
Step 4: Transfer money
Using your personal sponsor number as a reference, the next step is to transfer €150 to one of our bank accounts. Babushka Adoption Foundation has 4 bank accounts, in Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany.
Note: Please do not forget to mention your personal sponsor number as a reference when you make bank transfers.
As soon as your transfer is received, we will start providing your chosen beneficiary with the Kyrgyz equivalent of €10 monthly, at two-monthly intervals.
Although you are under no obligation we hope you will consider your adoption an ongoing commitment and continue to provide long-term support for your beneficiary. It is the best way to make our sponsorship program affordable and efficient. More importantly, it can make a lasting difference to the lives of elderly people.
